In a heart-wrenching incident, a stampede at Vishnu Nivasam in Tirupati on Wednesday resulted in the tragic loss of four lives, with several others injured. The injured devotees were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
The stampede occurred during the distribution of Vaikunthadwara Sarvadarshanam tokens, which attracted a massive crowd of devotees eager to secure the tokens. The overwhelming rush led to chaos, claiming the lives of four individuals, including a devotee from Salem, Tamil Nadu.
Expressing shock over the tragedy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu extended his condolences to the families of the victims. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) issued a statement, saying, “Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu expressed his deep shock over the death of four devotees in the stampede near Vishnu Nivasam in Tirupati for darshan tokens at Tirumala Srivari Vaikuntha Dwara.”
Authorities are investigating the incident to prevent such occurrences in the future.
