Trading Holiday List in India 2025: Are BSE & NSE Closed On New Year Day?

Mumbai, Jan 1: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) are not closed today, January 1, 2025, on account of New Year’s Day. The Indian stock markets, including benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50, are operating as usual.

According to the official holiday calendar issued by NSE India, New Year’s Day, falling on a weekday, is not listed as a non-trading day.

Trading will proceed as per the regular schedule. The pre-open session starts at 9:00 am, followed by the opening of the markets at 9:15 am. The day’s trading concludes with the closing bell at 3:30 pm.

Indian stock markets operate from Monday to Friday and remain closed on weekends. Regular trading hours for benchmark indices are from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm, with a pre-open session held from 9:00 am to 9:15 am on all trading days.

Note: October 21, 2025, Tuesday shall be a trading holiday on account of Diwali Laxmi Pujan. Muhurat Trading will be conducted on that day. Timings of Muhurat Trading shall be notified subsequently through a circular.
