SRM Alumnus Krishnan Appointed Sr Policy Advisor For AI At White House
Chennai, Dec 23: Sriram Krishnan, an alumnus of SRM Institute of Science and Technology has been appointed as the Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
Graduating in 2005 with a degree in Information Technology, Sriram’s extraordinary journey, from a promising student at SRM to a key figure in shaping global AI policy, fills the university with immense pride. This achievement reflects his intellectual acumen and the transformative impact of SRM University in bringing out leaders who shape the future of technology.
When Sriram first arrived at SRM, he was relatively new to the world of computers and programming. However, his innate curiosity and determination soon set him on a path of rapid growth. By his second year, Sriram had emerged as one of the top students in his cohort, distinguishing himself with his grasp of emerging technologies. He was among the earliest proponents of Python programming, adopting the language long before it gained widespread recognition. His ability to embrace new concepts ahead of the curve exemplified his forward-thinking approach to technology and problem-solving.
Sriram’s contributions to SRM extended beyond the classroom. During his third year, he initiated and organised “Cressida-2K4,” a highly acclaimed technical quiz competition under the university’s student club. The event garnered significant attention, attracting participants from across the country. Sriram’s meticulous planning, innovative question formats, and seamless execution of the event were lauded by students and faculty alike, leaving a lasting impact on SRM’s tech culture. Following his graduation, Sriram embarked on an illustrious career with some of the world’s leading technology companies. His professional journey included pivotal roles at Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo!, Facebook, and Snapchat, where he contributed to the development and scaling of innovative products and technologies. His experience in both technical and strategic roles positioned him as a thought leader in the field of technology. This unique blend of expertise and visionary thinking has led to his appointment as the Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, where he will play a key role in shaping the nation’s AI policies and guiding its ethical and strategic approach to transformative technologies.
