Shiv Sena-UBT Mouthpiece Saamna Takes Dig At BJP’s Delhi Election Approach

Mumbai, Jan 9: An editorial in Saamna, the Shiv Sena (UBT) mouthpiece, has criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for prioritizing the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections over pressing national issues.

The editorial noted, “The schedule for the Delhi Assembly elections has been announced, with voting set for February 5 and results to be declared on February 8.

Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Shah, and several BJP central ministers have immersed themselves completely in this election campaign.”

It further alleged, “The BJP’s primary objective is to defeat Arvind Kejriwal and seize control of the Delhi Assembly. Meanwhile, critical issues are being ignored—China has intruded into Ladakh, establishing two villages; Naxals have killed 10-15 police officers in Chhattisgarh; violence continues unchecked in Manipur; and in Maharashtra, daylight murders are being committed with apparent impunity under government protection.”

The editorial accused the BJP of taking extreme measures to defeat the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

“The BJP’s policy appears to prioritize defeating the AAP in Delhi above addressing serious national issues. They seem willing to go to any lengths to achieve this goal, operating under the belief that winning elections and securing power is all that matters,” the editorial stated.

It further argued that a “new form of democracy” has taken hold in India—one focused on eradicating political opposition through questionable tactics.

“This new democracy seeks to eliminate every political rival, as seen in Maharashtra and Haryana. Now, it is Delhi’s turn,” the editorial concluded.
