Bhubaneswar, Nov 17: Politics without morality is hypocrisy, said former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik at Harischandra Baxipatra Jayanti function held in Bhubaneswar today.
In his address, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President said, “Politics is a commitment; a commitment to work for an ideal, a commitment to extend unconditional service to the people. Many consider politics as a springboard to power. But politics without morality is hypocrisy. A dedicated and committed politician with high morality alone can bring about transformative changes in the lives of people.”
Naveen further said, “I believe the people’s love is more important than the world of power, status and position. Infact people’s satisfaction is the greatest asset for a leader.”
Eminent social scientist Yogendra Yadav also spoke on the occasion. Yadav gave the keynote address on “The sudden death of Modern Indian political thought.”
The LoP felicitated eminent social worker Pramila Swain and journalist Srimoy Kar with Harishchandra Baxipatra memorial award.
