The Central University of Odisha organized a motivational lecture at its campus on 17 August 2023 for the students and research scholars, especially for the newcomers.
Prof. S. P. Adhikari, former Vice-Chancellor, FM University delivered the lecture on ‘Success Through Education: How to Achieve in India’ as the Chief Speaker.
Prof. Chakradhar Tripathi, Vice-Chancellor of the University conveyed his best wishes for the success of the programme.
He hoped the programme would help students gain new skills, enhance creativity, reduce fear and apprehension, and offer a new outlook.
With these, our students will be good citizens and share a major contribution towards the development process of our nation as well as the world. Prof. Sharat Kumar Palita, Dean, School of Biodiversity and Conservation of Natural Resources, organized the programme and delivered the welcome address. Prof. N. C. Panda, Dean of the School of Languages and in-charge Registrar and Finance Officer spoke to the Students as the Guest of Honour.
Prof. Adhikari highlighted the life, achievement, and contributions of many eminent scientists, educationists, Nobel laureates, social thinkers, and leaders to inspire students to become the best people in the world. He recalled the past glory of our country in the field of education.
He said, “The World’s first University was established in Takshila in 700 BC. More than 10,500 students from all over the World studied more than 60 subjects. The University of Nalanda, built in the 4th Century BC, was one of the greatest Universities in the World during the time. So, India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great-grandmother of culture”.
While giving data on the future workforce of the world, he said, “Our country 800 Million youth, largest in the world can lead the entire world near future if they acquire the requisite skills”. He advised the students to learn and have mastery over the respective subjects and acquires the skills as per the demands to get better opportunities in life, to become successful and realize goals, to transform self and society and to build and develop the self, society, and nation.
Prof. S. K. Palita presented various achievements of our country on the path of progress in terms of agriculture, economy, science, and technology. He advised the students to learn best, acquire the best knowledge and skills, and contribute best in this path of progress of the country. Prof. Panda advised the students to use their valuable time in learning and research for better careers by citing various examples of great people. Prof. Sudhendu Mandal, Advisor, Academics, also spoke on the contributions of great Indian Women personalities and inspired the students to follow them and lead the country in the future.
Dr. Phagunath Bhoi, the Public Relations Officer of the University, coordinated the programme and offered a vote of thanks. Srishti Mukherjee, Student of English Language and Literature compeered the programme.
Students of Journalism and Mass Communication manage the video and photo coverage of the programme. Students, research scholars, teaching and non-teaching staff were present at large on this occasion.
