CUO Embarks On Historic Campus Devpt Project

KORAPUT, JAN 7: The Central University of Odisha (CUO) has achieved a major milestone with the launch of an ambitious infrastructure development project at its main campus.

In a groundbreaking initiative, CUO has awarded the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) contract to NBCC (India) Limited for constructing a Net Zero Energy Sustainable Campus. The project, with an estimated cost of ₹480 crore, is among the first of its kind in Odisha.

The project envisions state-of-the-art facilities, including an Academic Block, Hostels, a Sports Complex, a Cafeteria, a 1,200-seat Auditorium, a Shopping Complex, a Health Centre, and an International Guest House, with completion targeted for 2027—a significant step forward in CUO’s developmental journey.

The Ministry of Education has allocated the required funds for this extensive development, which had been pending for several years. This breakthrough was made possible through the unwavering support of the Ministry and the persistent efforts of CUO Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Chakradhar Tripathi.

The formal agreement for the PMC was signed on 03 January 2025, in the presence of Prof. Chakradhar Tripathi. Representing CUO were Prof. N. C. Panda, Registrar (I/c); Dr. Ashok Kumar Sahoo, Finance Officer (I/c); and Er. Sriram Padhi, Executive Engineer, CUO. On behalf of NBCC, R. N. Sinha, Senior General Manager, signed the agreement.

This milestone project underscores CUO’s commitment to creating a world-class learning environment while promoting sustainable development.
