Bhubaneswar-Based Comic Priyaranjan Sahoo Designs Premium Odia Calendar ‘Pratipada’

Well-known stand-up comedian and designer, Priyaranjan Sahoo, has launched a premium Odia calendar named ‘Pratipada’ to welcome the new year.
Drawing inspiration from the traditional Kohinoor calendar, Sahoo combines the contemporary elegance of the Stendig calendar with the enduring charm of Odia culture.

Each page of the calendar unfolds a tribute to Odisha’s cultural roots, fusing tradition with a modern touch through a stylish black and white design. ‘Pratipada’ highlights two significant days each month, symbolizing the start of both the “bright” (Shukla) and the “dark” (Krishna) fortnights.

Sahoo, a popular visual brand strategist, expresses his enthusiasm for presenting Odia culture in a high-quality design.

Crafted as a homage to Odia heritage, the calendar achieves a seamless blend of tradition’s richness and modern aesthetics. Sahoo, who recently shared insights at a Google Dev meetup on design, underscores the incorporation of his preferred design palette – the timeless allure of classic black and white – in bringing his dream calendar to life.
