Allrounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the ICC World Cup-2023 due to the ankle injury he suffered against Bangladesh on October 19.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that India named Prasidh Krishna as Hardik’s replacement and he is available for selection in the playing XI.
Hardik Pandya’s injury however, came as a blessing in disguise for Indian team as it paved they way for Mohammed Shami. The pacer took the World Cup by storm by picking up 14 wickets in his first 3 matches and cemented his place in the playing XI.
Pandya hurt his left ankle while bowling during India’s World Cup match against Bangladesh in Pune last month and it has now been confirmed that the 30-year-old has failed to recover in time to part of the rest of the campaign.
His place in India’s squad will be taken by Prasidh Krishna, with the inexperienced fast bowler parachuted into the playing group after being approved by the tournament’s Event Technical Committee on Saturday.
