Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s Private Secretary and 5T Secretary VK Pandian took voluntary retirement on Monday.
This development on Monday evening has further fuelled the speculation about VK Pandian’s entry into politics. Political observers in the state assume that he (Pandian) may hold a prominent role within the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Pandian is considered as CM Naveen’s most trusted IAS officer.
Pandian had visited all the 147 Assembly to redress people’s grievances. His visit has also been criticized by opposition–BJP and Congress. Both the parties have targeted the former IAS officer of misusing government funds and using state chopper.
“In reference to letter No.GAD-SER1-PERS-0100-2014 dated 20.10.2023 from Government of Odisha on the above mentioned subject, I am directed to convey the approval of the competent authority for acceptance of voluntary retirement of Shri V Kartikeya Pandian, IAS(OD-2000) under Rule 16(2A) of All India Services (Death-cum-Retirement benefits) Rules, 1958 with waiver of the notice period as recommended by the State Government,” reads the Centre’s letter.
VK Pandian started his IAS career as a sub-collector in Dharmagarh of Kalahandi district. He had served as collector of Mayurbhanj and Ganjam.
Since 2011 has been serving as private secretary to chief minister Naveen Patnaik.
