For the first time in the history of the Central University of Odisha(CUO) Gopabandhu Jayanti was celebrated by the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication.
The Department of J & MC organized a seminar on the occasion of 146th Birth Anniversary of Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das on Monday at the Landiguda campus.
The topic of the seminar was, Relevance of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das’ thoughts in contemporary India’.
The programme started with floral tribute to Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das by guests, faculty and students with the students singing the song, Misu Mora deha e matire’ penned by Gopabandhu.
The welcome address of the seminar was delivered by Dr. Sourav Gupta, HoD (i/c), DJMC. The inaugural message was given by the VC. The introductory address was delivered by Prof N C Panda, Registrar (i/c).
The seminar was presided over by Dr. Madhusmita Parida, Director, SCITM, Koraput and the speakers were Dr. Jhansi Singh, Reader in Political Science, Semiliguda College and Dr. Rudrani Mohanty, HOD, Odia Dep’t, CUO. Observation were shared by Prof Hemraj Meena, Rajbhasha Officer of CUO and Prof S K Palita, Dean, SBCNR. On this occasion, two journalists of Samaj, the newspaper founded by Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das were felicitated by the CUO.
They are Dilip Mohanty, District Correspondent, Koraput and Manoj Ku Patnaik, Correspondent, Sunabeda Subdivision.The vote of thanks was given by Dr. P.K.Rath, Asst Professor, DJMC.
The seminar concluded with a street drama , Khabar Hai enacted by the students of JMC.
Faculty, research scholars and students of various departments attended the seminar.
