In a vibrant and engaging event held on September 26, 2023, the Central University of Odisha celebrated the one-year anniversary of the tenure of its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Chakradhar Tripathi.
The University organized an Interactive Evening on its campus, fostering an environment for the exchange of ideas, constructive feedback, and mutual learning.
Distinguished guests, including Prof. N. C. Panda, Incharge Registrar and Finance Officer; Prof. Vibhas Chandra Jha, Advisor-Academic and Administration; Prof. Sharat Kumar Palita, Dean, School of Biodiversity and Conservation of Natural Resources; and Dr. Prashant Meshram, Controller of Examination, were present on the dais to extend their heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Tripathi for his successful first year as Vice-Chancellor.
Dr. Kapila Khemundu, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology, delivered the welcoming address, emphasizing the significant strides made by the University under Prof. Tripathi’s visionary leadership.
The progress included faculty recruitment, the introduction of new academic programs, and infrastructure development.
In a heart-warming address to the University community, Professor Tripathi expressed his heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering contributions, active support, and dedicated efforts in propelling the University towards greater heights. He envisioned a future where our students emerge as distinguished academic leaders on the global stage, guiding the world towards our shared goal of enhancing the quality of life worldwide.
Professor Tripathi offered sage advice, urging everyone to refrain from dwelling on others’ mistakes and instead focus on appreciating the positive aspects of their work. He emphasized the virtues of simplicity and the importance of avoiding anger, as he believed these emotions only drain one’s time and energy without yielding any productive outcomes.
Highlighting the significance of research endeavours, Prof. Tripathi announced plans for the establishment of research boards, each consisting of eminent scholars, in every academic subject. These boards will foster research collaborations on an international scale within the University, paving the way for groundbreaking discoveries and innovations.
Furthermore, Professor Tripathi underscored the need to promote India’s rich knowledge system within our educational framework, ensuring that our cultural heritage remains an integral part of our academic pursuits.
Notable achievements during Prof. Chakradhar Tripathi’s first year as Vice-Chancellor included the commencement of four new programs, such as B.Sc. programs in Agriculture, Forest Management, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, and a Post-Graduate course in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
The University also introduced certificate courses in Hindi and Japanese languages to enhance students’ language skills, making Gopabandhu Studies a compulsory subject at the undergraduate level. Faculty recruitment was on the brink of completion, promising new additions to the University’s academic roster.
Furthermore, infrastructure development initiatives were in full swing, and the University successfully hosted the Bharateeya Paramparik Kreeda Mahotsav and six international conferences.
Dr. Rudrani Mohanty, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Odia Language and Literature, guided the proceedings, while Dr. Ramendra Kumar Parhi, Dean of Students’ Welfare, delivered the vote of thanks. The event saw the enthusiastic participation of the entire teaching and non-teaching staff of the University, marking a momentous celebration of a year of progress and growth under Prof. Chakradhar Tripathi’s leadership.
