Ex-Odisha Minister Damodar Rout passes away

Senior leader and former minister Damodar Rout passed away today. 

He was 83. He breathed his last at around 5:30 am on Friday (March 22). 

Rout, who was elected to Odisha Assembly for several times, was admitted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar. He had suffered a cardiac arrest on March 18 and was undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed deep grief over the passing of away of the senior leader.

Taking to X, the Odisha CM said, “ I am saddened to learn about the passing away of senior Biju Janata Dal leader and former minister Damodar Rout. This is an irreparable loss in Odisha politics. His work for the betterment of the people will always be remembered. I pray for the eternal peace of his soul and convey my condolences to the bereaved family members.”
